Trick or Treat
Smell my Feet
Give me Something
Good to Eat
Tonight we went trick or treating with the Houston's. I'd planned on getting great shots of the 2 boys, and as usual, I'd expected too much. Because we were trick or treating with Ben's best friend it was almost impossible to get a photo of him - the two 5-year olds ran as fast as they could from one house to another. The only reason I got the above photos...The first one was because Bryant's shoe had come unfastened and so we stopped while Bill re-tied it. The second photo I bribed Ben. If he held Jonathan's hand and walked slowly with him then he could have one candy.
Jonathan started off the night in his stroller - it was his bedtime when we set off walking, but, as soon as I let him out of the stroller to walk to one house, that was it, he wanted to walk the rest of the night. Despite not being able to say "Trick or Treat" he quickly understood what to do...have an older kid knock on the door - stand back - look small and cute - then wait until the owner of the house says "awwww, look at that adorable little turtle", hold out your hand, take the candy, put it in your jack o'lantern, then turn and walk to the next house.

Today at school was caramel apples followed by a parade. Just before we left the house Bill told me the freeway was closed due to an earlier accident. Therefore, we had to go the back roads - which took forever. While we were waiting in traffic Ben started whining..."Mom, it's not fair the freeway is closed, now my halloween is ruined"
It was Monday night, Dad was working late, while the boys had dinner, I thought it would be a nice surprise if I lit the pumpkins. Dad came home, Jonathan was in his pj's, I told Ben there was a surprise outside. I had my camera ready, I thought I'd get the perfect shot of the boys with the pumpkins - wrong. Jonathan was not just upset, he was mad, he screamed, he yelled - needless to say, this is the best shot of the 2 boys with the pumpkins.
Today (after the beach) we started work on the pumpkins. The boys "helped" clean the pumpkins while Bill and I carved them - which is always a bigger task than you expect. While Bill carved an intricate design, Ben and I hunted through the pumpkin guts separating the seeds. The plan is to roast them (if the dogs don't find them first and eat them).
